Weekend Update #033
Welcome to Blue Room's Weekend Update. Each week, we're sharing what companies we're researching and the what, the who and the how that we think makes the companies interesting and unique. This roundup is brought to you weekly by a group of interns, creative minds, artists and investors who believe that through best in class investing along with the democratization of financial education we can do great things together. Enjoy, Explore and Share.

CHINA & CRYPTO
China cracks down on crypto miners — Bitcoin falls below $30,000, wiping out all of its gains for the year, while other cryptocurrencies sharply dropped over 30%.

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. remains a public company of high interest for us at Blue Room as we continue to unravel the practical nature of the company’s products, its commitment to innovation through rigorous R&D efforts and partnerships, as well as the current share price value relative to competitors within the industry.
Good afternoon. This is Michael Partridge of Vertex. On today's call. We will discuss results from the phase two clinical study with our investigational Z-AAT corrector VX-864. for the treatment of alpha one antitrypsin deficiency, or AATD. Dr. Reshma Kewalramani Vertex’s CEO and president, will provide prepared remarks on the call today. Dr. David Altschuler, Vertex's head of global research and Chief Scientific Officer will join for Q&A. We expect today's call to run for approximately 30 minutes, and we intend to conclude the call at 5pm. We recommend that you access the webcast slides as you listen to this call. This call is being recorded. A replay will be available on the Vertex website. We will make forward looking statements on this call but are subject to the risks and uncertainties discussed in detail in today's press release and in our filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The statements including without limitation, those regarding Vertex's AAT program and Vertex's pipeline are based on management's current assumptions, actual outcomes and events could differ materially. I will now turn the call over to Dr. Reshma Kewalramani.
It is no secret that the plant-based industry as a whole has been experiencing tremendous growth over the past few years. As sustainability and health have come to the forefront of consumers’ minds, plant-based alternatives have become increasingly more popular. This is exemplified perfectly with the plant-based meat sector, with major companies such as Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods experiencing exponential revenue growth both domestically and abroad.

They are ready for their forever homes!
Soul Dog started with a mission of helping the deserving dogs and cats on Tribal Lands in the Four Corners region. It seemed that very little was being done to address the overpopulation situation and lack of resources available for pet owners. Animal Control is overwhelmed by the number of litters who need immediate assistance. We stepped in to help.

My name is Mary Kate McIntyre, and I am a summer intern at Blue Room from Long Island, New York. I am a rising senior at Dartmouth College, where I study Government modified with Philosophy and Economics. I really enjoy how my major allows me to solve problems in different subjects, yet also draw connections to the global political economy as a whole.
Outside of classes, I conduct research with the Government department on the relationship between humanitarian aid and political violence in Afghanistan, and I am also the Programming Chair for my sorority. I have previously been a volunteer at Give Essential, a nonprofit that connects people with extra resources to essential workers on the front line of COVID-19, and a mentor for students at Hartford High School, just a ten minute drive from Dartmouth’s campus. I love skiing, discovering new music, jigsaw puzzles, and have recently gotten into cooking.
What drew me to Blue Room was not only their key function of making smart investments, but also their dedication to giving back to the community through impact and togetherism. Such a holistic approach was refreshing; the idea of using money for good has inspired me to further develop my knowledge of investing and financial analysis through this internship opportunity. Though I have only been on the team for a week, I have already witnessed how the mission statement is carried out each day through the encouragement of creativity and the enthusiasm of the team during the Investment Bullpen meetings. There is so much to learn already- I have just begun my research of Nvidia, a visual computing company in the semiconductor industry. It has been fascinating to see how Nvidia has made huge strides in the artificial intelligence world, with innovations capable of changing the world. I am excited to continue to learn, grow both personally and professionally, and contribute to the Blue Room mission this summer.
