Weekend Update #011
Welcome to Blue Room's Weekend Update. Each week, we're sharing what companies we're researching and the what, the who and the how that we think makes the companies interesting and unique. This roundup is brought to you weekly by a group of interns, creative minds, artists and investors who believe that through best in class investing along with the democratization of financial education we can do great things together. Enjoy, Explore and Share.
From Blue Room founder Min Sohn
Urban Peak
www.urbanpeak.org
Ever since I met this kid Lucas, my eyes have opened my heart and mind to homeless youth. This is the primary group targeted by Urban Peak. https://vimeo.com/461118085
From Tribal Elder Nina Sohn:
Heifer International
www.heifer.org
A true classic in all of the ways, Heifer International provides a 'living income' to people in communities in 21 countries around the world. The model is brilliant and sustainable - and let's face it - who doesn't want to give a goat (or even honeybees!) for the holidays?
From Creative Partner Emily Philpott
Soul Dog Rescue
www.souldog.org
The volunteers at Soul Dog Rescue are doing incredible work with animals on the tribal lands in the four-corners area. As a people we are opening our eyes to many of our marginalized Americans but Native Americans and their communities remain a group still very much uncared for. The volunteers at Soul Dog perform collaborative, targeted work, primarily through spay/neuter, in these underserved regions in order to create sustainable change and promote cultural shifts regarding the treatment of companion animals.
From Team Leader Omar Guzman:

From Analyst (and Helping Hand Initiative Founder!) Ian Carter
The Helping Hand Initiative
https://www.thehelpinghandinitiative.org
Helping Hand Initiative aims to give back to our communities through transparent collective efforts to mitigate the effects that racial injustice and inequalities have on small POC-owned businesses.
From Analyst Nick Peart
Special Olympics
www.specialolympics.org
An organization I am fond of (other than Helping Hand) is the Special Olympics. I've volunteered for them personally while at Dartmouth and I love how it provides the opportunity for people with disabilities to showcase their talents and to feel accepted and valued. They've always done a great job as well in bringing the community together as whole, "regardless of ability or disability" (in their words).
(Also I just saw on their website that there is an opportunity to triple your donation over the next 48 hours with one of their partners matching your donation!)
From Intern Aiden Fetterly:
Nourish.NJ
https://nourishnj.org/what-we-do/
The organization that I would like to highlight is Nourish.NJ, an organization that I volunteered with extensively throughout high school.Nourish.NJ is an organization that provides both warm meals and community outreach to anyone in need of aid or nourishment. Along with their soup kitchen, Nourish.NJ also hosts a Free Farmer's Market where they rescue produce from local grocers to provide healthy, fresh ingredients to local families and children.
From Blue Room Marketing Wizard Cole Wilson:
